Now that we know quite a lot about the smartphones to appear at the MWC 2018, all look to the next series of Huawei's top smartphones, the long-awaited P20. We have received unofficial information about design, hardware, and device capabilities, and now we have the first 3D images made on the basis of these leaks, featuring three models: a "normal" P20 equipped with three photo cameras back, a P20 "Plus" model, about which I've also spoken in the past about the "P20 Lite"
So far, we were just talking about the P20 Plus and Lite, but now we also see how it could look like the basic model, which gives the name of this series of phones. Unlike previous leaks, P20 images reveal an unexpected feature: a fingerprint sensor on the front of the device, positioned below the display. Since P20 is expected with a facial recognition system at least as efficient as Apple's Face ID, the decision to keep the fingerprint reader is at least strange. Also, since there are already solutions for fingerprint integration in the display, the inclusion of a traditional sensor does not make much sense.
Otherwise, the design is similar to what we saw in the past with an edge-to-edge screen with a cut-out at the top. Here are components such as the call loudspeaker, facial recognition system and front camera, as well as proximity and ambient light sensors. Last but not least, we also have the first images with the triple camera system. Two of the rooms are embedded in an oval, which suggests that their sensors are stabilized, while a third sensor is positioned below them. Rumors say it could be a five-fold zoom that will also offer an improved portrait mode.
The P20 Plus uses the same "bang" design at the top of the display, which is also found on the cheaper model, but a fingerprint sensor is completely absent. Most likely, this model is larger in size and will be presented as a top model that will compete on the same market segment as the iPhone X and the Galaxy S9 +.
Last but not least, the P20 Lite approaches the same design as the "bang", but gives up the triple camera system in favor of one with two sensors. The fingerprint sensor is located on the back of the device, while the dimensions appear to be slightly smaller than those of P20.
Of course, nothing is confirmed at this time, but OnLeaks and TigerMobiles, the authors of these images, have correctly reported several phone designs before they are revealed. The new Huawei devices will be presented at the end of March at an event to be held in Paris.
