WhatsApp tests a warning system to discourage redistribution of SPAM messages

While Facebook Messenger hides some of the messages you receive, if they come from people outside the contact list, WhatsApp could implement a less drastic method to limit the propagation of SPAM messages

At the testing stage with a small group of users, the new alert function will alert users who are about to redistribute posts that have already been distributed by many other users, a typical SPAM message

Messages fall under the anti-SPAM filter after they have been resubmitted at least 25 times, enough for restrained grouped posts to be disrupted. It is certain that messages for which warnings are issued are not blocked, so users can choose to send them anyway if they are sure of their authenticity

Probably, the new anti-SPAM alerts system will be included in one of the future versions of WhatsApp
