Despite the fact that there have been other models of hands-on edge-to-edge phones in the past, Xiaomi Mi MIX has been the beginning of the trend that is now adopted by the industry as a whole. The Chinese manufacturer has already launched the second generation of the phone with the highest body-display ratio, but the third version seems to be the one that will bring the promise of a display device across the front.
There have been online images of a new Xiaomi device called Mi MIX 2S, which suggests that it will not be a completely new product, probably still based on the technologies developed for the Mi MiX 2 model. It offers at least impressive design, being made in around a display that covers the entire body of the phone on the front, the only small part being omitted being a recess in the right corner of the screen, cut off to make room for the front camera
Even if at first sight this decision seems strange, in use it certainly will not affect the experience. Phones with "bangs" are clear evidence that the user spends most of his time in the center of the display, while the top is often ignored. Perhaps many phone manufacturers now regret that they chose to borrow the iPhone X design with a centrally-trimmed side, the Xiaomi solution being more elegant
In the hardware chapter, it is rumored that Mi MIX 2S will benefit from a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of top storage and 6 GB RAM with 64, 128 or 256 GB options. The front camera seems to be the same as the Mi MIX 2, equipped with a 5 megapixel f / 2.0 sensor, while the display retains the Full HD + resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels.
Other details are not available at this time, but the lack of the fingerprint sensor in the images may suggest its integration into the display using Synaptics components. The official announcement is expected over the next few weeks, but the phone may be absent from the Mobile World Congress.
