A Russian plane has landed emergency after losing large quantities of gold, diamonds and platinum
The cargo ramp of a Russian plane was damaged during the take-off, and shortly afterwards the aircraft lost large amounts of metals and precious stones.
Nimbus Airlines AN-12 aircraft transports gold, platinum and diamonds worth 378 million dollars. Much of these metals and precious stones fell off the aircraft shortly after taking off from Iakutsk. The cargo was lost a few tens of kilometers before the plane landed on an emergency.
Precious materials belong to a Russian company with 75% of the shares held by Canadian Kinross Gold
After the incident, all the engineers and technicians who dealt with the plane before take-off were detained by the police.
Authorities are now trying to recover from the cargo
