V For some time, Apple eased the demands on HomeKit devices. This also paved the way for Sonos products. With yesterday's update, it was time. The Sonos One, the Playbase, the Beam and the Play: 5 (2nd generation) now support AirPlay 2 and therefore also HomeKit. However, the speakers do not automatically appear in the home app after the update and require a short configuration.
Before you start the home app, you should first install the update for your Sonos speaker. We provide you with the appropriate instructions .
How to Add a Sonos One to the Home App
After installing the update, open the Home app on your iPhone. At the top right, tap the "+" icon and then select "Add Device". Because the Sonos speakers do not have HomeKit code, tap "Code is missing or can not be scanned" instead. On the next page should now appear your speaker. Tap on it to connect. Now that the Sonos system is added, you have the chance to change the name by tapping to the right of the speaker icon. After that, you can also set the room.
If there are several AirPlay 2 speakers in the same room - for example, a HomePod and Sonos One - you can start all speakers simultaneously via Siri, say: "Hey Siri, play music in the living room".
