The ASUS ROG Zephyrus laptop, launched this spring, was a fresh air breeze on the portable gaming computer market, delivering top performance in an extremely slim form. Since then, there have been other models from other companies that promise similar things, but ASUS wants to raise the clover again by launching Zephyrus S, an improved model, boasting that it is the "thinnest" gaming laptop
Zephyrus S from ASUS looks largely the same as the previous model made out of metal on the outside. It features a bottom-mounted keyboard to provide better cooling for the processor and the graphics chip, and the track pad is once again set to the right with a dual function, and can be replaced by a missing number via virtual buttons that can be illuminated . In fact, the entire keyboard is equipped with RGB LEDs, and at the bottom, the ventilation slot also benefits from lighting settings. The ROG logo on the back is also luminous.
Inside, Zephyrus S does not rebate to performance. We're dealing with the most powerful Intel Core i7 processor that can be integrated into a softer body the 8750H, running at 2.2 GHz, and can achieve boost speeds of up to 4, 1 GHz. It is joined by a GTX 1070 Max-Q GPU with 8 GB GDDR5 from NVIDIA or a GTX 1060 with 6 GB GDDR5, in a cheaper version. There are configuration options with up to two 512 GB SSDs each, but the PC benefits from a single PCIe bus of 4x and one PCIe 2x, so one of the drives will be slightly slower but faster than any SSD on SATA
In the chapter of RAM memory, ASUS offers 8 GB on the factory-capable motherboard and an upgradeable slot that can support another 16 GB for a maximum of 24 GB of DDR4-2666 RAM, more than enough for any present or near future game. The 15.6 "Full HD display benefits from a 144 Hz AHVA panel, fully compatible with the sRGB color standard and with a 3 millisecond response time. This means that the monitor could even be used by those who want to work in the creative area for photo or video editing.
Despite the fact that Zephyrus S from ASUS benefits from many connectivity connectors , such as two USB 2.0 sockets, a USB 3.1 Type-A, two USB Type-C 3.1 sockets, and an HDMI, we can not help seeing missing a card reader for transferring photos or filming, an Ethernet socket, ASUS most likely including a USB adapter in the package
At 2.1 kg and a thickness of only 14.95 mm, this is a true "monster" that you can carry after you anywhere, without hanging hard in the bag. Depending on the variant (with 1070 or 1060), ASUS offers in the package a 230W or 180W charger. The price has not yet been revealed, but most likely, Zephyrus S will replace the old Zephyrus in the offer of specialized stores at similar prices. Launch will take place in September
