Battery Replacement Program Launched for Some 13-inch MacBook Pro

If the battery is broken in your MacBook Pro 13-inch or comes in October 2016 and October 2017, then you have a good chance that Apple exchanges the battery for free, if the notebook does not have a touch bar. Because only equipment manufactured in the period in question is affected.

To check if your MacBook Pro is affected, you can obtain your serial number of the Apple battery on a dedicated battery replacement program website at Enter notebooks. You will find them on the back of the notebook in a very small, engraved font. Alternatively, under macOS, click on the apple icon in the upper left corner, select “About this Mac” and click on the “System Report” button in the following window. This opens a window in which the desired information can be found in the line “Serial number (system)” on the right-hand side of the window under the item Hardware.

If your notebook is affected, the battery replacement will not extend the standard warranty for the device. If you have already paid for a battery change with this notebook, you can request a refund. However, there is no reason to hurry – if the notebook does not cause any problems. The battery replacement program is valid for 5 years since the first release of the 13-inch MacBook Pro (without Touch Bar).
