Canon has developed an image sensor that allows slow-mo shooting in almost total darkness

After first demonstrating a camcorder capable of filming 120x the clarity of a Full HD movie, Canon pushes technology boundaries to the other extreme, revealing an image sensor that allows slow-mo shooting using anything other than starlight

With code name 35MMFHDXS, the full-frame CMOS sensor can shoot at Full HD resolution at 100 frames per second, even at night. Unlike other night-time camcorders, Canon's prototype does not require an infrared light source, the use of ambient light allows for a much wider field of vision and realistic images

The sensor available in both monochrome and color versions is suitable for use with specialized equipment such as surveillance cameras and night vision devices
