Every year, Apple celebrates Earth Day with other companies. Last year, there were some interesting videos showing individual environmental projects of the company. In addition to a Yak farm with solar panels Apple presented all kinds of facts worth knowing. This year, the new recycling robot Daisy was already introduced, and once again, the fact that all of the company’s worldwide plants are now operated with 100 percent clean energy.
Also for the customers there is an innovation. In addition to the packaging made from recycled or renewable materials, the devices are currently being considered for an extension of the recycling program. With Apple GiveBack, customers can return legacy devices to their local Apple Store or Apple.com. For suitable devices you will receive a credit or an Apple Store Gift Card for a later purchase. Anyone who is currently giving up a device or doing so by 30th April will also help the environment. From now until the end of April, Apple will donate every device to Conservation International – an organization committed to protecting the environment.
“At Apple, we’re constantly working on smart solutions to tackle climate change and the valuable ones Protecting our planet’s resources, “said Lisa Jackson, Apple’s Vice President of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives. “In recognition of Earth Day, we’re making it as easy as possible for our customers to recycle equipment and do something good for the planet through Apple GiveBack, and we’re happy to introduce Daisy to the world because it stands for what’s possible when innovation and environmental protection meet. “
