The Watch tab does not replace the Video tab, available to users for a long time. While "Video" offers an amalgam of viral videos without organizing them in a certain way, which is delivered according to the social networking algorithms, users will find much better structured content on the Watch tab

As for why Facebook would like to bring local news in a section reserved especially for original content, it could be to diversify the audience by attracting users who visit news sites. The ultimate goal, of course, is to increase the number of views for advertising messages, the main source of revenue for the social network

Facebook Watch is currently available for a limited number of users in the United States, but this feature may be expanded in the near future
