Foxconn launches Android One S3 under the Sharp brand, a mid-range waterproof design with iPhone 5C design
The Sharp smartphone division no longer represents what was once, being now under the control of Foxconn, who uses it for all sorts of more or less successful experiments. The latest device to be launched under this brand is the Android One S3, an Android device "clean", but it borrows the design of an Apple smartphone: the iPhone 5C with a colorful case
The new Android One S3 comes equipped with an IGZO display, something we see very rarely in the smartphone market with Full HD resolution and a 5 "diagonal. The format of the display is classic 16: 9, and above and below the display we have a thick frame, a design that reminds even more of the "old" iPhone 5C. The phone comes with a Snapdragon 430 chipset, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage space with a 2,700 mAh battery. They should ensure decent performance in basic functions, but they are at the limit of the minimum required for a smartphone nowadays.
The feature that makes it obvious is the colorful case that looks like it's made of metal and not plastic like the Apple phone. This also provides waterproof to IP68 (something that even the iPhone X does not offer, which is certified with IP67). For charging, the phone has a Type-C USB port
Unfortunately, this model can not be bought in Europe, as Foxconn only keeps this brand on the Japanese market. The equivalent of $ 300 is not bad, as we are talking about a "clean" Android device that gets fast updates and comes with water resistance.
