HMD Global has announced the launch of its new Nokia smartphone range for the year 2018 in Romania. Like last year's models, they were presented together, but will be available in stores gradually. Some of the devices arrive on the market immediately, while the rest will be released in May and June. Interesting is the company's strategy, offering a device for each category of users
The devices that will be available right away are Nokia 1, Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 Plus, two mid-range models with very competitive pricing on the segments they are targeting and an entry-level Android Go
Nokia 6 retains the design of the model last year, adding orange accents on the edges, a fingerprint sensor and a stronger chipset (Snapdragon 630). In the photo chapter, we are dealing with a 20 megapixel sensor and Zeiss optics with f / 2.0 diaphragm. The Full HD display suggests that it's a device targeted at those who still do not want to give up the 16: 9 format. At a price of 1.199 lei, this model surpasses many of the competing models, especially in the performance chapter, which is one of the few that can record video at 4K resolution
The new Nokia 7 Plus, however, comes as a competitor on the mid-range premium market, where the claims are slightly higher. We have a 6 "Full HD + 18: 9 format display, 4 GB RAM, Snapdragon 660 chipset and a generous 3.800 mAh battery. On the back there is a dual-camera system with 12 megapixel sensors, which benefits from Zeiss optics, electronic stabilization and 2x optical zoom. The price is 1,799 lei, comparable to other similar products on the market
Finally, Nokia 1 is among the HMD Global smartphones. It may seem at first sight a phone from another era, but it comes equipped with the Android Oreo Android Go system for good performance, even on such modest hardware. With a 4.5 "display and 854 x 480 resolution, it's clear that multimedia features are not important to this model. Besides, video games or photo or video recordings. The MediaTek MT6737M chipset, 1GB of RAM, and a VGA 5 megapixel camera are not just things to laugh at. However, the pre-installed software should work perfectly, all of Google's applications using "Go" versions, much less demanding with resources. This is the only Android device with an interchangeable 2.150 mAh battery. The price of this model is only 379 lei
In May, Nokia will launch its current flagship model, the Nokia 8 Sirocco, which I first saw at the Mobile World Congress. This model integrates the most advanced technologies available at the time of development. We have a curved QHD screen based on OLED panel (16: 9 resolution), glass construction on both sides, dual-camera system with 12 megapixel Zeiss optics and stabilization, wireless charging, water and dust resistance IP67 and a Snapdragon 835 chipset with 6 GB of RAM. In addition to not being equipped with the latest chipset model from Qualcomm, the Nokia 8 Sirocco has just about everything we want from a modern smartphone. The price for this is 3.321.
Finally, the model that made "sensation" at the time of the announcement, the Nokia 8110 4G "Banana Phone", will reach the stores in Romania in June. It will be listed at the price of 329 lei, and its main functions, besides calls and SMS, are the 4G connectivity. It integrates the Facebook application and some other limited capabilities, as it is a Feature Phone, but it will also offer the ability to turn it into a 4G modem.
