Lenovo ThinkVision P27u-10 – UHD 4K monitor for photo / video editing [REVIEW]

Featuring fully adjustable support, advanced connectivity options and a borderless IPS 4K screen, the Lenovo ThinkVision P27u-10 is an exciting choice for those who want a monitor with an average image quality and reasonable price

Presentation

The Lenovo ThinkVision P27u-10 is a 27 "diagonal UHD monitor equipped with an LCD panel for professionals working with photo / video editing applications and entertainment enthusiasts who want to watch the best 4K movies on the PC based on IPS technology and a high-color W-LED light source. Thus, we enjoy extended support for a wide range of colors, covering 99.5% of AdobeRGB color space, 145.7% of sRGB, 97.9% of DCI-P3 and 99.5% of BT.709

The ThinkVision P27u-10 features a 4-port USB 3.0 hub for peripheral attachment, including one including Quick Charge technology for fast charging of compatible mobile phones or tablets

Lenovo delivers this model with the factory pre-calibrated screen, guaranteeing professional image editing professionals a faithful representation of color shades from the very first use

With 4x the resolution of a similarly sized Full HD screen, the 27 "IPS screen has a display density of 163 ppi, enough to not be able to distinguish individual pixels from a distance of more than a few centimeters. The clarity of the image is further enhanced by the low-gloss anti-glare filter that blocks the ambient reflections without giving the image a clear look

Given the very high display density, using the 27 "Ultra-slim Ultra HD screen at optimal conditions requires setting the Windows 10 interface scaling function to 150%, resulting in a work area comparable to a diagonal WQHD screen similar, used with the native Windows rendered interface (100% scaling). In this case, the disadvantage is that not all desktop PCs work correctly if the interface scaling function is enabled, resulting in unclear or disproportionate display of some interface elements

Construction

Sleek and lightweight for a 27 "monitor, the ThinkVision P27u-10 draws more with its aesthetic edge, and the construction is not that solid. If there is not much to say about the exterior look, the ergonomic foot is inadequate to support the 27 "screen. Although it has a generous footprint on the desk, the weakly stiff leg tends to torsion and flexes alarmingly when we try to adjust the position of the screen

Fortunately, the image quality affixed to the IPS 4K screen is well-matched to the successful exterior design that leaves the screen framed with a very discreet frame, leaving only enough space to include a set of buttons at the bottom

As the glossy surfaces do not look for a professional monitor case, Lenovo has opted for a good-quality black-matt plastic that is pleasantly contrasted with the semi-glossy screen.
