StarTech offers two TB3 docking options – the Mini Thunderbolt 3 Dual HDMI Dual Dock for a whopping $ 183 and the Mini Thunderbolt 3 Dual DisplayPort dock for $ 164. Of course, both docking stations are primarily intended to be operated on MacBooks – they make little sense on the iMac or iMac Pro.
The dual HDMI dock allows two HDMI monitors with 4K resolution to be connected to a Mac while the Dual DisplayPort dock allows you to connect two 4K DisplayPort monitors or a 5K monitor to a TB3 Mac. Each dock has a built-in Thunderbolt 3 cable about 20 centimeters long, and because it is powered by the bus, no separate power cable or external power supply is required.
Both docks are small and therefore ideal for travel. Both are also equipped with a Gigabit Ethernet port. The HDMI dock has two USB-A ports (USB 3.0 and USB 2.0), while the DisplayPort dock has a single additional USB-A (3.0) port for connecting peripherals.
StarTech says the two new docks will soon be on the market. Unfortunately, euro travel is not yet available.
