According to the latest Counterpoint Research analyzes, OnePlus sales outperformed Samsung on the premium segment in one of Asia's most dynamic smartphone markets
. 1.3 billion people, India offers a huge potential market that Samsung does not seem to understand very well. Helped by the new OnePlus 6, the OnePlus manufacturer managed to stay above its rival Samsung throughout Q2 2018, capturing no less than 40% of the premium phone market.
OnePlus has spectacularly managed a rise of 446% in premium segment sales, at a time when Apple and Samsung reported declining sales compared to the previous year.
Samsung is now ranked second in terms of 34% of smartphone sales the premium range, down 25% from the previous year. Still, the company is better off on the budget line, with the top-of-the-line performances helping the company to come to terms with the rival Xiaomi, the two companies sharing roughly identical market shares of 30%.
With sales of almost three times bigger than the Galaxy S9 Plus, OnePlus 6 is India's favorite buyer, and OnePlus manufactures the performance of selling 1 million units in just 22 days. Overall, the Indian market contributes approximately one-third of OnePlus global sales.
