It's 2018. Samsung is unveiling a new "smartphone". A smartphone without internet connection. Can this be? The 1st of April is long gone and the message is no joke.
Galaxy J2 Pro a cheap smartphone
The Galaxy J2 Pro should cost around 150 Euro. It is still unclear in which markets Samsung wants to offer the device everywhere. But it is already certain. You can not surf, do not use messengers, just text and phone. In addition, you can use the built-in camera to shoot photos. The offers at least 8 MP resolution and is enough for snapshots. The front camera for selfies offers at least 5 MP resolution.
If you want to install apps on the device, this is only possible via a computer to which you connect the J2 Pro. In times when freemium games but have an online compulsion, the possibilities of using the App should be much lower than in conventional devices. Of course, you could also use apps for navigation with offline maps. But then you would have to load each time before traveling on the device. Whether there will be software updates is unclear. After all, Samsung installs an offline dictionary for students. Apparently the device is also geared towards this target group. Samsung wants to target users between the ages of 18 and 21 in special promotions.
In addition to the mentioned camera, this also has a quad-core processor with 1.4 GHz (Snapdragon 425) and 1.5 GB RAM. The battery can be replaced and has a capacity of 2,600 mAh. The AMOLED display offers a rather Spartan resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. How big the fixed flash memory is, is not yet known. You can, however, upgrade the device with a larger capacity micro SD card.
The Korean manufacturer announced the smartphone via press release in Korea. It is offered in two color options (black and gold).
