For those who want a powerful and affordable smartphone that can be peer-to-peer with models like the Galaxy S9, the Huawei P20 Pro or the Sony Xperia XZ2, there are two excellent terminals on the market. These are OnePlus 6 and Honor 10. The first model is produced by a Chinese startup which has already become synonymous with the budget ranges, and the second of the giant Huawei's "younger" division.

The two smartphones are very powerful, but each has advantages and disadvantages. We will look at the phones in several important chapters to help potential customers make a decision. I say that we have not tested yet either of the two models and some of the information below is based on personal experience with the two brands and on tests already made by organizations or other publications.

OnePlus 6 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Honor 10 features the Hisanicon Kirin 970 chipset, the most powerful one ever developed by Huawei's mother company. OnePlus 6 can be purchased in configurations with 6 or 8 GB of RAM, and Honor 10 in versions with 4 or 6 GB. For tasks related to artificial intelligence (such as shooting, augmented reality), Kirin 970 is more versatile than the Snapdragon 845 because it has a dedicated processor for AI. However, because it is better optimized, OnePlus 6 is a bit faster in synthetic tests than Honor 10. But the difference is not a big one, with the chipset not a decisive differentiator.

Winner: OnePlus 6

OnePlus smartphones have never excelled in this. OnePlus 6 uses a dual camera system (16 MP f / 1.8 + 24 MP B / W) that promises to be the best-ever Chinese brand. Honor 10 also comes with a dual camera (16MP f / 1.7 + 20 MP f / 1.7), which has optical image stabilization. In this chapter OnePlus 6 loses in front of the Honor 10. The camera on the Huawei smartphone is helped by the dedicated AI processor from the chipset. However, differences in performance are not great in this respect either.

Winner: Honor 10

Honor 10 is available in versions 64 and 128 GB, and OnePlus 6 in 64/128/256 GB configurations. None of the two terminals have a microSD card slot. Because it also offers the option of 256 GB, and faster memory chips, OnePlus 6 wins here.

Winner: OnePlus 6

OnePlus has AMOLED display with 6.28-inch diagonal, 19: 9 image format, 1.080 x 2.280 pixel resolution and Gorilla Glass 5. In comparison, Honor 10 has a 5.84 inch diagonal IPS LCD display 19: 9 resolution, 1,080 x 2,280 pixel resolution and Gorilla Glass protection (unspecified version). This is hard to declare a winner, because everything depends on the user's preferences. Some appreciate the IPS LCD screens because they offer higher viewing angles, while others prefer AMOLED displays for more vivid and richer colors. However, since OnePlus 6 has a larger diagonal display and Gorilla Glass 5, I tend to declare this winning model in this chapter.

Winner: OnePlus 6

The two models come with batteries with similar capacities: 3,400 mAh on Honor 10 and 3,300 mAh on OnePlus 6. Both have fast charge technology and Huawei and OnePlus offer some of the best solutions on the market. Because it has a smaller diagonal screen and a slightly larger capacity battery, Honor 10 should provide better autonomy, and the first tests indicate this. It also helps that EMUI 8.1 is very "aggressive" with battery-consuming applications.

Winner: Honor 10

There are other aspects that differentiate the two models. OnePlus 6 is resistant to light rain and water splashes, while Honor 10 does not. However, the Huawei smartphone is cheaper with about 100 euros and is available in several shades, some of which are spectacular. I also think that Honor 10 is a "smart" smartphone than OnePlus 6, but also easier to use with one hand, because it is not as long and narrow as the rival model. As for the 3.5 mm universal audio jack, it is present on both models. Both OP 6 and Honor 10 come with bangs. It can be hidden, fortunately.
